Sharing Cart

25 Nov, 2025

In Addition to the option of importing an entire course or large parts of a course into a new course, there is also the option of simply transferring individual activities or materials to other courses. The ‘sharing cart’ is a convenient solution for this, which we would like to present in more detail below.

Add Block

The ‘Sharing cart’ function is a block. This is only visible to teachers and can only be used for the content within their own Moodle account. If ‘Edit’ is activated, add the ‘Sharing cart’ block using the ‘Add block’ menu in the block toolbar on the right. The block is now visible for this course. If the target course for pasting the copied content is a different one than the current course, this block must also be added to that course.

Copying to the sharing cart

You will now see a small shopping cart symbol next to the course sections, work materials and activities ‘Copy to sharing cart’. Click on this symbol to send a copy of the work material or activity to the cache. Alternatively, you can copy an entire section to the cart instead of an activity. Use the small shopping cart icon next to the section name or select the topic from the list of sections in the block and click on ‘Copy section’. This creates a folder in the cart. If you click on this folder, all files and activities contained in it will be displayed. You can also move items within the cache into folders.

Pasting from the sharing cart

Go to the course where you want to copy the content. Remember that you first have to insert the block here. Click on the ‘Copy to course’ icon in the ‘Sharin cart’ section. Now select the course area where you want to copy the element.
